This is the beginning of our amazing trip....
New Year's Eve wasn't too eventful, we
made a nice dinner, had some champagne and watched the fireworks at
the space needle from upstairs, but I can tell you right now we made
up for it at the nightlife in New York ten fold! I can already feel in my bones that 2009 is going to be a great year. Where did 2008 go, it went by so fast. We pretty much
traveled all day today, and worst of all we were surrounded by about 5
children under the age of 5. Most of them right in the row behind us.
Matt called it the flight from hell, I wasn't too bothered by them but
it was different then most of our recent flights because we usually
are going somewhere like Vegas or Hawaii where there are few kids on
the flight. Overall it was so worth it getting to New York. Starting
off with an $80 cab ride to our hotel, I knew New York was going to be
way different. Oh and right across from our hotel a taxi cab had
driven straight through the front door of a Duane Read (their version
of walgreens or rite aid) that was pretty crazy to see. The city in
enormous, being from Seattle which I consider a big city, this is
insane! Billboards everywhere! Lights everywhere. TImes square is a
trip. The people here definitely are a lot different then Seattle. They look different, talk different, it's a whole other world here.
Looking down from our room every car on the street is a taxi, a sea of
yellow. No one has cars here, with all the mass transit. Our room at The Westin is amazing! We have a perfect view of the city. We are staying in a corner room that normally goes for $1500 a night. Matt knows someone of course and got the room for $99 a night! I can't wait to get in bed, we have a heavenly bed, the most comfortable bed in the world! After a long
day of traveling we went to bed, ready for the next day! What does NY have in store for us?
